Recycle Right: Blue Bins

Use the blue recycling bins on campus for clean paper, cardboard, #1–#2 plastics, metal cans, and glass bottles. Keeping contamination low helps UCCS maintain an effective recycling stream.

ITEMS THAT CAN BE RECYCLED

  • Notebooks

  • Loose paper

  • Printer paper

  • Envelopes (plastic windows are OK)

  • Newspapers

  • Flyers

Cardboard

  • Shipping boxes (flattened)

  • Cereal boxes

  • Paperboard packaging

Plastics (#1 and #2 only)

  • Water bottles

  • Soda bottles

  • Detergent bottles

  • Rigid #1–#2 containers (clean and empty)

Metal

  • Aluminum cans

  • Clean aluminum foil

  • Tin cans

Glass

  • Glass bottles

  • Glass jars (rinsed, no food residue)

Items that CANNOT be recycled

  • Coffee cups (lined with plastic)

  • Food-soiled paper / greasy pizza boxes

  • Plastic bags and film

  • Plastic utensils

  • Styrofoam

  • Straws
